Materials & care

Steel, cut and powder-coated. Here is exactly what you are buying, and how to look after it.

Material

Every piece is laser-cut steel, powder-coated, cut on a fibre laser. Steel is chosen over aluminium for its rigidity — at 100 cm a thin aluminium silhouette flexes and rattles; steel does not. Edges are deburred by hand before coating so there is nothing sharp to touch.

Finish

Electrostatic powder coating, oven-cured. It is the same finish used on outdoor furniture and railings: it does not chip like paint, does not fade indoors, and wipes clean. Five finishes — black (matte), white (matte), silver (metallic), gold (metallic) and bronze (metallic).

Indoor and outdoor

Indoor and outdoor — patios, porches, garden walls and balconies are all fine; the powder coat is the same finish used on outdoor furniture. Salt air will eventually mark any coated steel; by the sea, choose black or bronze and expect a patina over the years.

Weight

From under 1 kg at 20 cm to roughly 10 kg at 110 cm. Every size ships with hardware rated for its weight; large pieces use standoff bolts into wall plugs.

Care

Dust with a dry cloth. For marks, a damp cloth with a drop of dish soap; dry afterwards. No abrasives, no solvents. Outdoors, rinse with water twice a year.

What if it gets damaged

In transit: photograph the box and the piece within 3 days and we recut it free. In use: a chip in the coating can be touched up with a matching enamel — contact us and we will tell you which.
